10 Habits to Boost Your Chances of Success - Part 1

We all have bad habits, those little things that we do on a regular basis, even though we know deep down that we shouldn’t be doing them. What we may not realize, however, is that some of these habits could be holding us back professionally. They might stifle our chances of reaching our goals, and many of them limit our productivity. If you’re ready to make a change for the better in your professional life, consider these ten successful habits.

  1. Don’t follow, lead

Success isn’t about following the crowd. It’s about anticipating where the crowd will go and getting there first. The only way you can put yourself in the best possible position to be successful is by taking charge. Following may be comfortable, but leading will help you reach your goals.
  2. Surround yourself with positive people

Entrepreneur and motivational speaker Jim Rohn is often quoted as saying “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” Look around! Who are you spending time with? Make sure to limit your contact with the toxic people in your life, and surround yourself with positive and successful individuals.
  3. Don’t multitask

The myth of multitasking has been debunked in recent years. Instead of helping you get more done, trying to do too many things at once essentially decreases your productivity, increases the risk of error and contributes to the loss of time. It is recommend to focus your energy on only one specific task that needs to be accomplished without any interruptions.
  4. Continue learning

You may have an MBA from a top tier school, but that doesn’t mean that you know everything. The most successful entrepreneurs know that as soon as you stop learning, you get replaced by people who are willing to learn and expand.
  5. Get outside of your comfort zone

Not challenging yourself may guarantee that you’ll never fail, but it also guarantees that you’ll never grow. Instead, get outside of your comfort zone by taking risks, trying new things, expanding your horizons, feeling challenged and following your dreams.
